Scurdia: Music knows no borders

On May 20, 2014 the music band Scurdia visited the office of the Representation of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Markus Schirmer and Risgar Koshnaw presented their successful music project, which is well-known beyond the Austrian borders, and spoke with Dr. Mustafa Ramazan about a possible concert cooperation in Kurdistan.” Scurdia combines Kurdish and Austrian culture through music. I am very much looking forward to attending to their next performance”, said Dr. Ramazan.

Scurdia unites musicians from around the world under the leadership of Mark Schirmer and Risgar Koshnaw. The group has existed for 18 years and combines classical music with traditional music from Kurdistan and jazz with ethno. Their music has delighted audiences in numerous concert halls across Austria, most recently on May 3 in the sold out opera house in Graz.
